Mini Journal for the Expo

This mini album or journal took me half an hour to do. At our forum one of my friends said we should make a journal where all the girls could sign. I was so swamped with so many things to do that decided to take things I had around and make something out of it. It's only 5x5 and I made tags for all the girls to write on and on the other side I want to put a picture of them with me. I'll add more embellies and things later.

Este mini album o journal me tomo media hora hacerlo. En nuestro foro una de mis amigas dijo que hicieramos un journal donde todas las chicas pudieran firmar y escribir. Yo estaba tan ocupada con tantas cosas que decidi hacerlo de cosas que ya tenia a la vista a ver que salia. Es de 5x5. Le hice tags para que las chicas escribieran y en el otro lado pienso poner una foto de cada una conmigo. Luego le agrego mas cositas.

Altered Clothespins

I made these clothespins for some of the girls that are going to the Expo. I would have wanted to make them for all but I could't find more anywhere. Tienen unos mini porta retratos.

Estos clothespins los hice para algunas de las chicas que van al Expo. Me hubiera gustado hacer para cada una pero no los encontre en ningun lugar. They have mini picture frames.

Scrapbooking Expo Orlando here I come!

I am so excited preparing for the big meeting with my dear friends. I have not been able to sleep well thinking of this weekend, and it's finally here! Yeah! I believe there will be ten of us. I made gifts to take them.

Estoy tan emocionada preparando para este encuentro con mis amigas. No he dormido bien pensando en este fin de semana, y al fin ha llegado! Yupi! Creo que seremos diez. Le hice unos regalitos para llevarles.

PBA Swap

This PBA (Paper Bag Album) is a the first I've ever made. It's for a swap that we are having in our forum. I truly enjoyed making this album. I used the Amber Memory paper and embellishments that has a somewhat retro feel from Simply Adorn It. I hope that the person who receives this will like it as much as I enjoyed making it. Most of the girls requested what they wanted there album to be about, or what colors. The person that I got did not specify, so I decided to make it an "All about Me". TFL

Este PBA es el primero que hago. Es para un swap en nuestro foro. Realmente disfrute trabajar este album. Use el papel y embellies Amber Memory que tiene un sabor retro, son de la marka Adorn It. Espero que la persona que lo reciba le guste tanto como yo disfrute hacerlo. Algunas de las chicas especificaron de que querian su album y de que colores. La persona que me toco a mi no lo hizo, por lo que decidi hacerlo de "Todo sobre mi". GPM

Altered Frame: Happy

This picture frame I made for an altered frame challenge in our forum. When I finished it I thought, "oh, dear, I went over the top again with the colors". I truly didn't think for a moment that I could possibly win. When I saw the other picture frames I was amazed with all the beautiful things the other ladies had made. I couldn't decide for which one to vote for. Honestly, they were all unique and truly expressed each of the girls creativity. I was enamored with three of them, so I called my daughters to help me vote. Big mistake! They each liked adifferent one and started an argument. So, I decided to do the smart thing... I went "eenie meenie minie moe" with the ones I liked and voted for one. I am so thankful for winning this challenge and for the girls that liked what I did. Thanks!

Este porta retratos lo hice para un reto de de porta retratos alterados de un foro al cual pertenezco. Cuando lo terminé, pensé: "Mi madre, se me fue la mano otra vez con los colores". No imagine ni por un segundo que hubiese la posibilidad de que yo ganara. Cuando vi los porta retratos de las otras muchachas, quedé maravillada con todas las cosas hermosas que hicieron. No me podía decidir por cual votar. Sinceramente, todos eran únicos y realmente expresaban la creatividad de cada una. Me enamore de tres de ellos, por lo que decidi llamar a mis hijas para que me ayudaran a votar. ¡Grandísimo error! A cada una le gustó uno diferente por lo que se armó una discusión entre ellas. Entonces decidí hacer lo mas inteligente.... dije "tin marin de dos pingüe" con los que me gustaron y así vote por uno. Estoy muy agradecida por haber ganado este reto y por las chicas a quienes les gustó lo que hice. ¡Gracias!

Love Layout

I loved these papers so much that not only did I make that Valentine's album for Iggie, but had to make at least a layout with them. I liked the sample Bo Bunny had so much that I recreated it with minor changes. Ashley and Lauren said, "...but mom, that looks like something you've already done..." and I said in my head: "I don't care... I LOVE these papers!" lol

Estos papeles me encantaron tanto que no solo los use para el album que le hice a Iggie para el Día del Amor, sino que tambien los usé para hacer por lo menos una página con ellos. Me gustó el ejemplo que tenía Bo Bunny tanto, que lo copié con algunos pequeños cambios. Ashley y Lauren me dijeron "... Pero mami, eso parece algo que ya habías hecho..." y dije para dentro de mi... "¡No me importa... me ENCANTAN estos papeles! jeje

Gift

Ok, this is a Valentine's layout, believe it or not! This year for Valentine's Iggie gave me this beautiful necklace with a heart charm. I'm really not the jewelry kind of gal and he knows this, but he saw so many commercials where the man always gives jewelry to his sweetheart that he wanted to do this. He kept asking me what I wanted and his answer to my request was always "that's not a romantic gift" and my answer to him was " but it's practical and it's what I really want. Well, he went ahead and gave me jewelry not only for my b-day, but also for Valentine's and I truly liked it. If next year he asks me what I want, I'll just say surprise me. Iggie is not your typical guy. He's always trying to find ways to make me happy and doesn't understand that by just being the way he is makes me extremely happy!

Este es una pagina del Dia del Amor y la amistad, creanlo o no. Este año Iggie me regalo esta hermosa cadena con corazón. Realmente no soy de las mujeres que les encantan las joyas y esto el lo sabe, pero vio tantos comerciales de TV donde el hombre siempre le da alguna joya a su amor que quiso hacerlo también. Me preguntaba a cada momento "¿Qué quieres que te regale?" y después que yo le respondía me decía "pero eso no es romantico" y yo le cotestaba "pero es práctico y es lo que quiero". Bueno, el me regalo joyas no solo para este día, sino también para mi cumple y les diré que realmente me gustó. Si el próximo año me vuelve a preguntar lo que quiero que me regale, le diré que me sorprenda. Iggie no es el hombre tipico. Siempre esta buscando la manera de hacerme felíz y a veces no entiende que siendo tal cual es me hace extremadamente feliz.

Layouts of my B-day

I think I went overboard with the colors and the random places where I placed embellisments on this LO. But I guess it's my hearts desire for freedom sometimes. Freedom to be able to go as I please and do what I want. This is something that I have always struggled with. I don't know why, but sometimes I feel like a bird in a cage. Am I happy with my family? yes... of course. It has nothing to do with them. They are part of who I am. I guess it's everything else. The sense of responsibility versus the wild child in me. This wild child tries to pop up every once in a while. This is when I pray even harder than ever and ask God to put everything in the right perspective... and thankfully...He always does!

Creo que se me fue la mano con los colores y los lugares alocados en los que puse los embelecos en este LO. Pero creo que esto ha expresado el deseo de mi corazon de cierta libertad. Libertad de hacer lo que quisiera. Con este sentir he combatido toda mi vida. No se porque, pero hay veces en las que me siento como un pajaro dentro de una jaula. Soy feliz con mi familia? Claro que si. Este sentir no tiene nada que ver con ellos. Ellos son parte de quien yo soy. Creo que es todo lo demas. El sentido de responsabilidad versus la niña salvaje en mi. Esta niña trata de asomar la cabeza de vez en cuando. Y es cuando oro con mas fervor y le pido a mi Dios que ponga todo en la perspective correcta... y agradezco que El siempre lo hace.

My Birthday!

February 13 was my birthday. I started celebrating early, though. A group of my friends took me out to dinner on Tuesday, February 12. We went to The Cheesecake Factory and I had my usual, Thai lettuce wraps, yum! Then, of course, the dessert for which this restaurant is famous for, Cheesecake, I had the Godiva Chocolate. Absolutely delicious! The very next day, my real b-day, my girls woke me up before heading to school and gave me a big kiss and a hug. Iggie gave me a kiss and a hug and wished me a happy birthday and went off to work. I knew we would do something in the evening. When I opened the door to my car, I was pleasantly surprised by a package on my seat and two cards on my steering wheel. I smiled so hard that tears just flowed from my eyes as I read the beautiful words from both my husband and my girls. The gift was a beautiful Coach pink bracelet. It was really a coincidence that I wore pink that day, but even if I had worn orange with green polka dots, I would have still worn it. Work was as usual, nothing special. When I arrived home we all went out to dinner to my favorite chicken wings place, Doral Ale, nothing fancy just really fun! We ordered a platter of Mount Saint Helen wings(so spicy that it will open up your sinuses) and another platter of bacon, cheese fries. (Needless to say that my diet went down the drain these two days). When we got home, Iggie had bought two slices of guess what? yes... Factory's Cheesecake, (my favorite dessert, by the way) this time it was Carrot cake and Lemon Raspberry, to die for! We had a blast we laughed, joked and took these Pictures:

El 13 de Febrero fue mi cumpleaños. Empece a celebrarlo temprano. Un grupito de mis amigas me llevaron a cenar el martes, 12 de febrero. Fuimos al Cheesecake Factory. Pedi lo que usualmente como alli, Thai lettuce wraps (envolturas de lechuga Thai), que rico! Despues, claro esta, el postre y la razon por la cual este restaurante es famoso, Cheesecake. Yo pedi el de Chocolate Godiva. Realmente delicioso! El próximo día, mi verdadero cumple, mis hijas me despetaron antes de irse a la escuela y me dieron un beso y un abrazo. Iggie tambien me dio un abrazo y un beso y me deseó un felíz cumpleaños y se fue a trabajar. Cuando abrí la puerta de mi carro, fui sorprendida con una bolsa de regalo en mi asiento y dos tarjetas sobre el volante, Mi sonrisa fue tal que lagrimas fluyeron de mis ojos mientras leia las palabras tan lindas de mis hijas y de mi esposo. El regalo fue un hermoso brazalete color rosa y fue una coicidencia que ese dia me habia vestido precisamente de rosado, pero aunque me hubiese vestido de naranja con pintitas verdes, igual me lo hubiese puesto! El trabajo ese dia fue igual a todos, nada especial. cuando regresé a mi casa salimos a cenar a mi lugar favorito de alitas de pollo, Doral Ale, nada lujoso, simplemente divertido! Pedimos una bandeja de alitas a lo Mount Saint Helen (tan picantes que le aclararía la sinositis a cualquiera) y otro plato de papitas con tocino y queso derretido, (la dieta se fue a la porra en estos dos dias. Llegamos a casa e Iggie habia comprado dos pedazos de... adivinen que... Si, cheesecake de Chessecake Factory (mi postre favorito, les dire). Esta vez uno era de Zanahoria y el otro de limon y raspberry... delicioso! Nos divertimos muchisimo, bromeamos, reimos y tomamos estas fotos:

My Glasses

For the longest time I used contact lenses, but recently I started having problems with my right eye. At the end of the day, my eye was irritated. I always knew I had astigmatism but managed to use my contacts without major problems until last time I went to the ophthalmologist. He told me that I could not use them anymore. So I plunged into the difficult task of looking for a pair of glasses that I felt looked half way decent. Let me tell you, It took a while: "too big, too small, not the right color, I hate that shape on my face... and then... Ahh, these are OK. Yeah, so do I like them? No, not really, but they are growing on me. I decided to make a LO of my new look!

Hace mucho tiempo que uso lentes de contacto, pero recientemente empecé a tener problemas con el ojo derecho. Al final del día terminaba con el ojo irritado. Siempre supe que tenia astigmatismo pero siempre logre usar lentes de contacto sin problemas mayores, hasta la última vez que fui al doctor. El me dijo que ya no los podia usar. Asi es que me dedique a la dificil tarea de buscar unos espejuelos que yo encontrara que lucieran decente. Dejenme decirles, me demoré muchisimo: " Muy grandes, muy pequeños, no me gusta el color, odio como me lucen esa forma... y entonces... Ahh, estos lucen bien. Si, ¿Realmente... me gustan? Pues, no, realmente, no, pero me estoy acostumbrando. Decidi hacer un LO de mi nuevo look.

Scrapbooking-Super Bowl Sunday

Well, I must say it was a relaxing afternoon! Ignacio stayed at church where the Men's Ministry hosted a Super Bowl party and Ashley stayed with him with all of her friends. I decided I would go home and scrapbook until my heart was content. Lauren came home with me, but an hour later decided she would go to a friends house to watch the game. I made myself a sandwich (all low fat, of course) and got to work. I made four Layouts.

Bueno, debo decirles que fue una tarde bastante relajada. Ignacio se quedó en la iglesia donde el Ministerio de Hombres auspiscio una fiesta de Super Bowl (fútbol Americano) y Ashley se quedó con él y con todos sus amigos. Yo decidí irme a casa y hacer scrap hasta cansarme. Lauren vino a casa conmigo, pero despues de una hora decidió irse a casa de unas amigas a ver el juego. Me hice un sandwich (bajo en grasa, obviamente) y me puse a trabajar. Hice cuatro páginas.

Layout: Happy all the time

This is a double layout I made for a challenge. We used a sketch from Valerie Salmon. You probably recognize these pictures. They are the ones I took of the girls on one of our quality day out. I felt that the paper and title were happy enough for these pictures. I didn't win, but it was fun to participate and get me out of my comfort zone. I normally do not put many pictures in my layouts because I'm fearful that it will clutter my pages since I love combining different patterns. I'm content with the result. TFL

Este es un layout doble que hice para un reto. Usamos un sketch de Valerie Salmon. Seguramente reconoces estas fotos. Son las que tome de mis hijas el dia que salimos. Senti que el papel y el titulo estaban bien alegres e irian bien con las fotos. No gane, pero fue divertido participar y salir de mi zona de comodidad. Normalmente no acostumbro a poner muchas fotos en mis layouts porque me atemoriza que hagan que mis paginas se vean cargadas, viendo que me gusta combinar diferentes patrones. Estoy satisfecha con el resutado. GPM

Love Mini Album

This is a mini album I made for my hubby for Valentine's using Bo Bunny's Smitten papers. I made the letters out of chipboard and tried imitating the font used on Bo Bunny's Word album. I cut it by hand with an exacto knife. It was pretty hard to do but worth it! I think Iggie's going to like it a lot. I made the pictures a sepia tone in Photoshop. We have a cute tradition every for Valentine's every year.The girls and I cook dinner and set the table with a Valentine's motif. I make little trinkets, cards or mini albums for them and lots of chocolates and sit and have dinner together, take pictures and open our presents. That's actually how we spend valentine's. Then on the closest Saturday, Iggie and I celebrate it by doing something romantic just the two of us. The girls normally stay at my in laws.

Este mini album lo hice para mi esposo para Valentine's usando los papeles Smitten de Bo Bunny. Hice las letras a pulso con una cuchilla y chipboard tratando de imitar las letras del album de Bo Bunny. Fue dificil de cortar, pero valio la pena. Creo que a Iggie le va a gustar. Las fotos las converti en color sepia en Photoshop. Tenemos una linda tradicion en mi casa durante esta celebracion. Las nenas y yo hacemos la cena, decoramos la mesa de Valentine's. Yo le hago chucherias, tarjetas o mini albums a ellos con muchos chocolates y nos sentamos a comer juntos. Tomamos muchas fotos y abrimos los regalitos. Asi es que pasamos esta fecha. Despues, el sabado mas cercano a Valentine's Iggie y yo celebramos haciendo algo romantico el y yo solitos. Las nenas normalmente se quedan en casa de mis suegros.

A Day at the Park

Last Saturday I planned with Ashley and Lauren that we would get up in the morning and go have some breakfast and then go to a Park and take lots of pictures with my new camera. Iggie had the Men's Ministry meeting that morning so it was just the three of us. We got up really late so instead of breakfast we ended up going to the drive through at Wendy's and ate on our way to the park. We made jokes, sang out loud songs from the radio and even did something that you should never do: "eat with your mouth full". We had so much fun! I felt like I was a teenager. We also talked about a lot of girl stuff and this gave me the opportunity to tell my girls about what their goals and dreams were and how it is important not to listen to the negative opinions of others, but to the strengthening and positive words of those who love and wish them well. I realized that day that my girls are growing up. The notion of this stirred mixed emotions in my heart. I am so proud of these crazy girlie girls. Our next photo shoot will be at the beach, and we are excited to see what our next adventure will bring us!

El sábado pasado planeé con Ashley y Lauren que nos levantariamos temprano en la mañana e iriamos a comer un desayuno y luego ir al parque y tomar muchas fotos con mi nueva camara. Iggie habia salido a una reunion del Ministerio de Hombres esa mañana, así es que solo seríamos nosotras tres. Nos levantamos bien tarde, y en lugar de desayuno, resultamos yendo por la linea rapida de Wendy's y comimos de camino al parque. Hicimos chistes, cantamos canciones de la radio a gritos, y hasta hicimos algo que nunca debe hacerse, "hablar con la boca llena". Nos divertimos muchisimo! Me senti como una adolescente. Hablamos de muchisimas cosas de muchachas y esto me dio la oportunidad de hablar con mis hijas sobre sus sueños y sus metas y sobre la importancia de no escuchar las opiniones negativas de otros, sino las palabras positivas y de fortaleza de aquellos quienes las quieren y desean lo mejor para ellas. Me di cuenta ese día que mis niñas han crecido. Esta noción me hizo sentir una mezla de emociones. Estoy muy orgullosa de estas nenas alocadas. Nuestro proxima salida para tirarles mas fotos será en la playa. Estamos sumamente contentas y curiosas de ver que nos reparará nuestra próxima aventura!
